The dashboard and underhood of your car provide a constellation of symbols — much of the iconography is standard. The symbols that aren’t? Sometimes they’re easily understood and sometimes they’re open for misinterpretation. Here’s 20 icons trending toward the hilarious.

What if you were plopped into a car with no idea what any symbol in it meant? You’d probably come up with some pretty funny and really incorrect interpretations. We took a fresh look at some of our cars and came up with these. What about in your car? Anything really weird in there?

Plaid Stallions has a fantastic collection of scanned images from toy catalogs and fashion catalogs from the 1970s, including a series from a playground equipment catalog. How incredibly cool is this spaceship!

When I take my children to the park, I can’t get over how advanced some of the playground equipment has become but I also miss the charm of the 1970′s when a pile of concrete and galvanized pipe became a moon rocket or a giant octopus.

Yes, I know, it’s been like 3 weeks since I wrote an entry in here. I sort of have an excuse — I was sick for about 2 weeks. Not sick enough to prevent me from writing, really, but I had some weird cough and sore throat thing that’s been going around. I actually got laryngitis, which I’ve never had in my life. I couldn’t speak for about 3 days. It didn’t particularly cramp my style, since I’m not the world’s biggest talker, but it was inconvenient, especially at work. I’m still not completely back to normal. I sounded like a 13-year-old boy for a while.

I had to do baby moves in yoga for a while. No showing off for me! I bet I can do 100% on Monday, though.

We went to Scarborough Faire on the coldest day we’ve had in weeks. It was great (since it’s usually 90+ degrees during Faire season) but unfortunately none of us were dressed for cold or rain, and that probably is what helped make me even more sick than I was.

I found a fun site: www.funvids.net. It’s got some great little short video clips, and some really bizarre stuff as well. Saturday night we were supposed to go out to a comedy show, but ended up missing it because we were having so much fun looking at this stuff.

I could rant about politics for a while, but I don’t even know where to begin. I’m so disgusted with the Bush administration. It’s just incredible how they continue to lie and spin the issues as if no one will notice!
